Our Story

We at LifeChurch started as a small group of Filipino families who attended worship services at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Vallejo, California in 1975.
Recognizing the growth potential, the church’s leadership encouraged us to start our own home Bible study group.
As God added to our number, we began holding our own worship services on Sunday afternoons.

On the 25th of January 1981, we formally organized as a church body and held our first morning worship service at the Veterans Building in Vallejo.

Within a month, we called our first pastor and Vallejo International Baptist Church (VIBC) was planted. Throughout the years, VIBC gathered at various locations in Vallejo. In 2004, the Lord blessed us with a property on 400 Admiral Callaghan Lane which we still call our home.

VIBC reflected our desire to reach out to multi-generational families within the Filipino-American community. However, the Lord reminded us that we are to reach out to the world, which inspired us to identify ourselves as “Vallejo International.”

Following the command of Christ to make disciples of all nations, we want our community to know who Jesus Christ is. Holding fast to our beliefs and core values, we kept an open mind for necessary changes in our approach to ministry, seeking to make the presence of Christ more felt in our local community and abroad. We sought God’s will through prayer and are encouraged by what He is doing in our midst—deeper connections, changed lives, and restored relationships. In all of this, moving forward with the name “LifeChurch” came about.

We are LifeChurch. And we live lives, grow lives, and engage lives rooted in no one but Jesus Christ.
